Start your day early with a 5-6 hour hike to Gayzamchu, a trail that takes you over the ridge above Ura Village and into the heart of Thrumshing La National Park. After reaching Gayzamchu, drive to the Thrumshing La Pass, the second-highest motorable pass in Bhutan. Shortly after leaving Ura, you’ll cross a saddle where, on a clear day, you can see Gangkhar Puensum (7,540 meters), Bhutan’s highest mountain and the world’s highest unclimbed peak.

Take your time to enjoy the journey, making stops along the way to spot birds and wildlife. Continue to Chummey Village, where you’ll have the option for a side trip to Tharpaling Monastery, perched on a high ridge. In winter, keep an eye out for Black-Necked Cranes, which roost in the area.

From Chummey, ascend to Yotong La Pass (3,500 meters) and then begin a long, scenic descent to Trongsa. The drive is filled with winding curves and changing vegetation, offering breathtaking views at every turn.
