Your journey begins as you fly into Paro International Airport, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views. After completing immigration formalities, you’ll be warmly greeted by our Heavenly Bhutan Travels (HBT) team at the arrival gate, holding a placard with your name. They’ll transfer you to your hotel in Paro, where you can relax and soak in the beauty of this magical valley.

Paro is home to Bhutan’s only international airport and is one of the most fertile valleys in the kingdom. Known for its terraced fields of red rice, Paro is blessed with beautiful weather year-round and is the location of the world-famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), one of the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites.

In the afternoon, visit the iconic Rinpung Dzong, also known as the “Fortress on a Heap of Jewels.” This stunning example of Bhutanese architecture, built in 1644, towers over the valley and serves as both a religious and administrative center.

Today, embark on one of Bhutan’s most scenic drives as you travel from Paro to Punakha via the Dochula Pass. The journey takes about 4-5 hours, offering breathtaking views of mountains, forests, and valleys along the way.

Start your day early with a visit to Kichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples. Built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo, this temple is said to pin down the left foot of a giant ogress that once blocked the spread of Buddhism. Start your day with a 45-minute hike to Khamsum Yulay Namgyal Lhakhang, a beautiful temple perched on a ridge above the Punakha Valley. This architectural gem offers panoramic views of the valley and the Mo Chhu River, making it a perfect spot for photography and reflection.
