What private means
No group, no fixed departure, no script
On a private tour it is just you and the people you travel with. Your guide and driver work for your group alone. Breakfast at seven or at nine, a long lunch in a farmhouse, an extra hour in Punakha Dzong because you like it there: those calls are yours.
This is how most international visitors see Bhutan. You will see few big coach groups here, and the licensed-guide rule means you have a local with you anyway. A private trip simply makes that guide yours. For two people, a private week often costs about the same as a group tour, because the SDF and hotels are the same either way.
- A licensed guide and driver for your group only
- Start on any day the flights allow
- Change the plan on the road if you want to
What you can change
Everything on a customised itinerary is flexible
Dates and length
From a 3-night stopover to three weeks across the country. We line it up with Paro flight days and, if you like, a festival.
Route
Add Haa over Chele La, the cranes in Phobjikha, Bumthang's temples or the far east. Swap a long drive for a domestic flight.
Hotels
Certified 3-star hotels, farmhouse homestays, boutique lodges or Amankora, COMO Uma and Six Senses. Mix them if you like.
Pace
Short driving days and fewer stairs for parents, or early starts and big hikes for the energetic.
Food
Vegetarian, vegan, Jain, halal-friendly or gluten-free. We tell hotels in advance and check again on the day.
Experiences
Archery with locals, a hot stone bath, a cooking class, rafting, a monastery blessing or a day on a mountain bike.

Who we plan for
Private trips for every kind of traveller
Honeymoons
Lodges with views, a private dinner, a blessing at Chimi Lhakhang and slow mornings.
Families
Shorter drives, kid-friendly food, archery and farm visits. Children under 6 pay no SDF.
Solo travellers
No single-traveller surcharge from us. You pay for your own room and the same guide and car.
Older travellers
Ground-floor rooms where we can, gentle walks and a guide who keeps an eye on everyone.
Pilgrims
Kurjey, Jambay Lhakhang, Taktsang and other sacred sites, with time to pray and make offerings.
Photographers
Early starts, the right light at dzongs and festivals, and patience when you want one more shot.
Hikers
Day hikes to monasteries and ridge-top temples, or a full camping trek with crew.
Small groups
Friends, clubs and company retreats, with a bigger vehicle and extra guides if needed.
What changes the price
How we price a private Bhutan tour
The SDF and visa are fixed by the government. Everything else depends on the choices below.
| Factor | Effect on price | Our advice |
|---|---|---|
| Number of nights | Each night adds SDF, a hotel and meals | Seven nights is the sweet spot for a first visit |
| Group size | Guide and car costs are shared, so larger groups pay less each | Two to four people is the most cost-efficient |
| Hotel level | From certified 3-star hotels to luxury lodges | Mix luxury in Paro or Punakha with simpler hotels elsewhere |
| Season | April, October and festival weeks cost more | Late May, early September and winter are cheaper and quieter |
| Route | Central and eastern Bhutan add long drives or domestic flights | Go east only if you have 10 days or more |
| Extras | Helicopter flights, rafting, cooking classes, private ceremonies | Add one or two, not all of them |
For two people sharing, a private 7-day trip in 3-star hotels usually comes to USD 2,500 to 4,500 per person, including the SDF, visa, guide, car, hotels and meals. Flights are extra.
How booking works
Four steps from your first message to landing in Paro.
Tell us your plan
Dates, who is coming, what you want to see and a rough budget. A loose idea is enough to start.
Get a day-by-day quote
We send an itinerary with named hotels and one price that already includes the SDF, visa, guide, car and meals.
We do the paperwork
Once you confirm, we file the visa, pay the SDF to the government and hold your Drukair or Bhutan Airlines seats.
Meet your guide in Paro
Your guide and driver wait at arrivals and stay with you until you fly out. Our office in Thimphu is on call the whole time.
How we build your itinerary
What happens after you send your enquiry
We ask a few questions first
A good itinerary starts with the right questions. Who is travelling and how old are they? Have you been to the Himalaya before? Do you like walking, or would you rather sit in a courtyard and watch? Is there one thing you must see? We would rather spend ten minutes on WhatsApp with you than send a generic plan.
Then we draft a day-by-day plan
You get each day laid out with drive times, sights, named hotels and meals, plus one clear price. The SDF and visa sit on their own lines so you can see what goes to the government. Most guests ask for one or two changes. Some ask for ten. Both are normal.
And we keep adjusting on the road
Plans change once you are here. A road closes after rain, a festival day shifts, or you fall for Punakha and want another night. Your guide calls our Thimphu office and we sort it out, usually the same day.
What every private tour includes

- Licensed English-speaking guide for the whole trip

- Bottled water in the car and airport transfers
What guests say after travelling with us
“I visited Bhutan this October with my parents who are elderly and I was concerned about their well-being, but Mr. Omnath from Deya Tours and Travels made sure that they were well taken care of.”
Yadenla
Family trip with elderly parents
“I am a solo traveler most of the time and prefer planning on my own. But for a change this time used Deya for my trip to Bhutan and absolutely loved the idea of doing it.”
Suma K
Solo traveller
“Mr. Omanth did a fantastic job overall. He took care of all the cancellations of hotels due to government holidays, and booking it again on our previously planned dates, that too without charge.”
