The easiest Bhutan trip in South-East Asia
Singapore was the third biggest source of visitors outside India in 2025, and it has one of the simplest routes in. Drukair flies Singapore to Paro via Guwahati, and added a third weekly flight from April 2026 because of demand. A long weekend plus a few days of leave is enough for a first look at Bhutan.
Because the flights run on set days, we plan your trip around them. We hold seats as soon as you confirm, file your visa and pay the SDF, and you meet your guide at Paro arrivals.
- Drukair from Changi, with a short stop in Guwahati
- Trips of 5 to 7 days fit the flight days
- Family trips in the June and December school holidays
Flights
How to fly from Singapore to Bhutan
Singapore has Drukair service to Paro, and good back-up routes through Bangkok and Kolkata.
| Route | How it works | Typical journey | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drukair via Guwahati | Drukair flies Singapore to Paro three times a week with a stop in Guwahati, India. | About 5 to 6 hours | Flight days change by season. We confirm them for your dates. |
| Via Bangkok | Many daily flights from Changi to Bangkok, then Drukair or Bhutan Airlines to Paro. | About 7 to 10 hours | Useful if the direct days do not suit you. |
| Via Kolkata or Delhi | Fly to Kolkata or Delhi, then connect to Paro. | About 8 to 12 hours | Easy to add India to the trip. |
Only Drukair and Bhutan Airlines fly into Bhutan. Paro takes almost all international flights, and Gelephu has had a twice-weekly flight to Kolkata since December 2025. Drukair has interline agreements with Thai Airways and Air India, so some routings can be booked on one ticket with bags checked through. Schedules change by season, so we confirm them for your dates.
Visa and entry
Visa and entry rules for Singapore travellers
E-visa required
Singapore citizens need visa clearance before travel. The fee is USD 40 and approval usually takes about 5 working days. We apply for you once your trip is booked.
Passport
Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months after you leave Bhutan. Send us a clear scan of the photo page and a passport-style photo.
SDF
USD 100 per adult per night until 31 August 2027, paid to the government through us. Children aged 6 to 11 pay USD 50.
Licensed guide
A Department of Tourism notice issued on 8 April 2026 confirms that visitors travel with a licensed guide beyond the first checkpoint. Your guide is included in every Deya trip.
Insurance
Travel insurance has not been compulsory since 23 April 2024. We still recommend cover for medical evacuation, especially if you plan to trek.
Consular help
Singapore does not have an embassy in Bhutan. Register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs eRegister before you travel so they can reach you if needed.

Practical tips for Singapore visitors
Plugs
Singapore type G plugs fit many Bhutanese sockets. Bring a universal adapter for the D and F ones.
Money
Singapore dollars are hard to change in Bhutan. Bring US dollars or Indian rupees and a card for hotels.
Phone and data
Buy a B-Mobile or TashiCell SIM at Paro airport for a few hundred ngultrum, or set up an eSIM before you fly. Coverage is good in towns.
Pack for cold
Paro and Thimphu sit above 2,200 metres. Mornings and evenings are chilly for much of the year, so bring a warm jacket.
Food
Bhutanese food is built around chilli and cheese, so ask for it mild at first. Hotels also serve Indian, Chinese and continental dishes, and vegetarian food is easy to find.
Travelling with children
Under-6s pay no SDF and children aged 6 to 11 pay half. We plan shorter drives for families.
Before you go
Planning notes for travellers from Singapore
Your first day in Bhutan
Paro sits at about 2,200 metres, and Thimphu is a little higher. Most people feel fine, but the first afternoon is not the time for a big hike. We keep day one light: a walk around Thimphu, an early dinner and a good night’s sleep. The Tiger’s Nest hike comes near the end of the trip, when you are used to the altitude.
Flights into Paro depend on the weather, because pilots land by sight between the ridges. If your arrival moves, we move the plan with it. That is one reason we suggest a buffer night in your hub city on the way in, and not booking the tightest possible connection on the way home.
What the SDF pays for
The Sustainable Development Fee is paid to the Government of Bhutan, not to us. It funds free healthcare and education for Bhutanese citizens, forest protection and the upkeep of the dzongs and trails you will visit. It is also why sites like Punakha Dzong never feel crowded. Bhutan had 209,376 tourist arrivals in 2025, from 157 countries. Travellers from Singapore are a small part of that, which makes each visit feel personal.
