Short and combined tours 2027

Short on time, or travelling the region?

See Bhutan in two or three nights, add it to a trip to Nepal, or come by road from India. Short tours that still show you the heart of the country.

Bhutan in the region

An easy add-on to Nepal, India or Thailand

Bhutan sits between India and Tibet, an hour’s flight from Kathmandu and a few hours from Bangkok, Delhi or Kolkata. That makes it a natural addition to a trip in the region. Many travellers spend a week in Nepal or India and finish with a few quiet days in Bhutan, or fly in from Bangkok for a long weekend.

Short trips are also cheaper than you might expect, because Bhutan’s Sustainable Development Fee is charged per night. Two or three nights keep the fee low while still giving you Thimphu, Paro and the Tiger’s Nest. For Indian travellers the fee is INR 1,200 per adult per night, there is no visa, and you can drive in through Phuentsholing.

Ways to combine

Popular combinations

Nepal and Bhutan

Kathmandu's temples, then a flight past Everest to Paro.

India by road

Bagdogra, NJP or Hasimara to Phuentsholing, then up to Thimphu.

Bangkok stopover

Two or three nights between Thailand and home.

Tibet

Lhasa and Everest, when Tibet permits are open.

How pricing works

We don’t publish fixed prices. The visa (USD 40, not needed for Indian citizens) and the Sustainable Development Fee are set by the government. Flights, hotels and group size make up the rest. Tell us your dates and budget and we will reply within 24 hours with our best price, flights included if you like.

Flight days

Only Drukair and Bhutan Airlines fly into Paro, and not every route flies every day. For short trips we start with the flight days and build around them. See our flights to Bhutan page.

Guides and permits

All visitors travel with a licensed guide, as confirmed in a Department of Tourism notice from April 2026. We arrange visas for international guests, and entry and route permits for Indian guests.
