Special interest tours 2027

Bhutan tours built around what matters to you

A honeymoon for two, a family week with the kids, a quiet meditation retreat or a pilgrimage to the most sacred places in the Himalaya. Every trip is private and planned around you.

Why a special interest trip

The same Bhutan, seen your way

Most visitors to Bhutan follow the same route through Paro, Thimphu and Punakha, and with good reason. But the way you travel through those valleys can change everything. A honeymoon needs quiet rooms, slow mornings and a few surprises. A family needs short drives, hands-on days and food children will eat. A retreat needs silence, a good teacher and time to rest. A pilgrimage needs the right temples in the right order, and a guide who knows the prayers and stories.

Because every Bhutan tour is private, with your own licensed guide and driver, we can shape each trip around the reason you are coming. These four tours are our starting points. Change the dates, the length, the hotels or the pace, and we will rebuild the plan around you.

How pricing works

We don’t publish fixed prices, because the total depends on your hotels, group size, season and any special extras. The visa (USD 40) and the Sustainable Development Fee (USD 100 per adult per night until 31 August 2027, with lower rates for children) are set by the government. Tell us your budget and we will reply within 24 hours with our best price.

Guides and rules

A Department of Tourism notice from April 2026 confirms that all visitors travel with a licensed guide. For pilgrimages and retreats, we choose guides who know the religious side of Bhutan well, and we can add a meditation teacher. Read our Bhutan travel rules guide.

Best time to go

October and November have the clearest skies. March to May brings flowers. December to February is cold, bright and quiet, and the cranes are in Phobjikha. The monsoon, June to August, is green and peaceful. Our month by month guide has more detail.
